The
school may detain students in their classrooms after school or may require
students to attend a detention class on a non-calendared school day. Junior
High students who fail to follow classroom/school policies or fail to complete
assignments will be given a Parent Notification Slip. These slips will be sent home, signed
by the
parent(s), and returned to the homeroom teacher the following day. These slips
will indicate the day detention must be served. Students who fail to attend
assigned detentions will be subject to more serious consequences (additional
detentions, disciplinary probation, suspension, expulsion). If a primary grade
student will be detained for more than fifteen minutes, parents of the student
will receive a one-day notice of a detention. The important part of this
process is the communication between the teacher and the parents.
